Wine Tasting Challenge
Sixty guests gathered at Stapleford Park on Friday evening to test their wine-tasting skills, or lack! With Mike Luke guiding us through the rounds of competition in his easy and amusing manner, the evening was hosted by Bentley, Berkeley Insurance Group, Collective Minds, Lumbers, St James’s Place Wealth Management and Stapleford Park.
Round One presented Nuits Blanc Clos d’Arlot 2005 and Macon Uchizy 2007 as the two white burgundies. Round Two, the South versus North Rhone challenge presented Crozes Hermitage Blanc, Chanon Curson 2008 as the first wine and Domaine Vieux Telegraph, Chateauneuf du Pape as the second wine.
In the Bordeaux Round the first wine Chateau Tour 2006 was from the Margaux appellation and the Chateau Puy Razac from St Emillion. In the Aficionado round, a blind tasting round, congratulations to David & Rosemary Redgate for spotting that the first wine was a Quincy, Domaine Bailly Loire 2008 and that the second was a Sauvignon Blanc Kuki 2008 from Marlborough New Zealand.
